What Time Does Wordle Reset in the UK? GMT and BST Explained
Wordly team · Roghan Games · November 2, 2026
Wordle does not change at the same moment for everyone: the daily puzzle changes at midnight on your own device's clock. In the United Kingdom that means a new puzzle at 12:00 AM, which is GMT in winter and BST (British Summer Time) in summer.
Because the UK is ahead of the United States, UK players get each puzzle several hours before American players do. That is the main reason answer pages and hint posts sometimes look a day out of step when you read them in the morning.

Why the UK and the US are not always the same distance apart
The United States and the UK change their clocks on different dates. The US moves forward on the second Sunday in March, two to three weeks before the UK, and moves back on the first Sunday in November, up to a week after the UK. For those few weeks each year, the gap between the two countries is one hour different from usual, and so is the gap between your midnight and the American one.
Streaks and the clock change
- Your streak follows your device's date. Playing before and after midnight counts as two different days.
- The night the clocks go forward has only 23 hours, and the night they go back has 25. The puzzle still changes at midnight, so you do not lose a day.
- Check your phone's date and time. If your device is set to a manual time or the wrong zone, the puzzle can change early or late.
Reading answer pages from the UK
- Match the puzzle number. Many pages are written on US time. If your game is on a higher number than the page, you are reading yesterday's post.
- Spoilers. Hint posts often reveal the answer in the title. Check the number first, and use a page that hides the answer behind a tap.
- Spelling. The answers use American spelling, so a word such as HONOR can come up even though you would write HONOUR. Our guide to British and American spelling in Wordle lists the details.
Where to find today's answer from the UK
Our answer page updates once a day, at about 3:20 AM UTC, which is 3:20 AM in the UK in winter and 4:20 AM in summer. So it is usually ready by the morning commute. Today's Wordle answer, hints and archive shows the puzzle number and date in the title, so compare them with your game before you reveal anything.
