Learn English Vocabulary With Word Games: 4-Week Wordle Plan

Wordly team · Roghan Games · November 2, 2026

Vocabulary grows from short, regular practice, not from long study sessions you dread. A five-letter word game fits that well: a round takes a few minutes, every guess forces you to think about spelling, and a new word sticks better when you have fought for it. This plan is made for students and exam aspirants who want to add English words steadily, using free word games on a phone.

What word games can and cannot do

  • They help with: spelling, common endings and prefixes, recognizing words quickly and building a daily habit.
  • They do not replace: reading, writing and speaking practice, or a good dictionary for exact meanings.
  • They work best when you check the meaning of words that surprised you, and write them down.

The 4-week plan (about 15 minutes a day)

Adjust the time to your schedule. Even 10 minutes a day works.
WeekDaily routineGoal
1Play 3 rounds of 5-letter puzzles. After each round, say the answer aloud and write one sentence with it.Make the habit. Do not worry about winning.
2Play 3 rounds, then look up two words you did not know and add them to your notebook with a meaning and an example.Learn about 14 new words.
3Switch to 6-letter puzzles on alternate days. Use a starting word with common letters and review the endings of the answers.Notice patterns such as -ING, -ED, -ER and -LY.
4Revise your notebook for 5 minutes, then play 3 rounds. Try to use at least two of your new words as guesses.Use new words actively, not just recognize them.

The word notebook

  1. Write the word, its meaning in English (and in your own language if it helps), and one sentence of your own.
  2. Note the part of speech: noun, verb, adjective or adverb.
  3. Add a related word, such as a synonym or an opposite (for example, ABUNDANT and SCARCE).
  4. Review the last week's words every Sunday, covering the meaning and trying to recall it.

Tips for school and competitive exam preparation

  • Learn words in groups. Antonyms, synonyms and word families are easier to remember than single words.
  • Read first, then play. Read a short newspaper or magazine article for 10 minutes, then play a puzzle. The mix of reading and play works better than either one alone.
  • Do not memorize without examples. A word you can use in a sentence is a word you know.
  • Take a day off a week. Rest helps memory. Return on Sunday to review.
