How to use this list
- Learn five a day. Pick five words, read the example aloud and try to write one sentence of your own.
- Use them as guesses. Open a puzzle and try a word from the list as your second or third guess. You will remember it better after seeing its colors.
- Notice the patterns. Many of these words end in -E (ABIDE, AGILE, AMPLE) or come from Latin (EPOCH, VALID, LUCID). Patterns make new words easier to guess.
- Review after a loss. If a puzzle beats you, look up the answer's meaning. Words you lose to are the ones you will not forget.
