6 Letter Wordle: Free Unlimited Puzzles, Best Openers and Strategy

Wordly team · Roghan Games · November 1, 2026

If the classic 5-letter puzzle has started to feel easy, a 6 letter Wordle is the natural next step. You get one extra box, a much bigger vocabulary and more words with repeated letters. Wordly offers 6-letter puzzles in unlimited mode and as a daily challenge, free and with no sign-up.

Why play a 6-letter Wordle-style game

  • A step up in difficulty. There are more possible answers than in the 5-letter list, and many more words with a repeated letter, so you cannot rely on the usual openers alone.
  • More room for patterns. Common endings such as -ING, -ED, -ER, -LY and -ES give you something to test early.
  • More vocabulary. Six-letter words include plurals, past tenses and compound shapes that you will not see in shorter puzzles.
  • Still quick. Even with the extra box, a typical round takes only a few minutes.

Strategy for 6-letter words

  • Test endings early. Because many answers end in -ED, -ER, -ES or -LY, a guess that places those letters in the last boxes can turn several slots green at once.
  • Expect repeated letters. About half of the answers repeat a letter, so when you have most of the pattern but no more new letters to try, think about doubled letters such as the double S, double E or double R.
  • Place the vowels first. Finding the vowels and their order gives you the skeleton of the word, and consonants can be filled in afterward.
  • Keep one guess for exploring. If your first two guesses leave you with many possible words, spend the third on a word that splits them, even if it cannot be the answer.

Good openers for this length, ranked by how many frequent letters they cover at once: ARISEN, SATIRE, SERIAL, REASON, LEARNS. Our starting-word guide explains how the ranking works.

Example: solving a 6-letter word

Say the secret word is WINTER. Here is how the colors guide the next guess:

I is in the word but one box to the left; R is already green in the last box. S, A, L and O are ruled out.
I, N, E and R are green. T is in the word, just in a different spot. D is out.

Four greens and a yellow T leave very few options. The first letter is the only real unknown, and a quick check of which letters can start _INTER finds WINTER.

A practice plan

  1. Pick one opener from the list above and use it for a week, so you learn to read its colors fast.
  2. Play three or four rounds a day in unlimited 6-letter mode, and keep the daily puzzle for your best attempt.
  3. After each loss, look at the answer and ask which clue you misread, not which word you should have known.
  4. When you win in three or four guesses most days, try the next length up.
